The Carthen Scholars
Dr. Jason Carthen started his academic and athletic career at Ohio University. He went on to play for the NFL’s New England Patriots. As an inspirational leader, philanthropist, motivator, author, athlete and media personality, it is important to note that Dr. Carthen continued his education to earn not only a masters, but also a doctoral degree. It is his mission to Motivate, Inspire and Challenge (MIC) others towards a deeper level of thinking that ultimately encourages achievement of one’s personal best!
Dr. Carthen has published work in the areas of Leadership, Business, and Motivation and provides audiences with a sense of hope and optimism regardless of their circumstances. His efforts have evolved into The Leaders of Tomorrow Initiative: A multi-faceted organization that builds and strengthens the foundations of society through intentional programmatic and measured outcomes that are focused on the value of Family, Education and Community!
Dr. Carthen actively "partners" with institutions of higher learning by providing two Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships for incoming freshmen each academic year. About the Carthen Scholars:
The mission of the Dr. Jason Carthen Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship is to encourage and enable high school students to (a) have access to college and (b) realize the impact that civically engaged and community focused individuals can have on the world,
Scholarship recipients are affectionately known as "Carthen Scholars" and remain actively involved in the mission of the Leaders of Tomorrow Initiative by giving back and volunteering at LOT Initiative events and meetings in order to help the young people that are coming up behind them. In other words, they are modeling the way as any good leader would do!
Two $1,000.00 awards are provided up to four consecutive years ($8,000 total) based upon renewal guidelines. The awards are supported through the generous support of Dr. Jason Carthen. The funds are collected by The Leaders of Tomorrow Initiative; administered by the scholarship executive committee; and disbursed by the Office of Financial Aid for each award winner's respective school. Carthen Scholars receive supportive services through The Leaders of Tomorrow's Mentoring program and will have several networking, and internship opportunities throughout each academic year.
