Family:
We are so thankful for the ongoing support of those in the community that partner with us and help us to carry out our message of influence for the next generation. In the last quarter we completed our eighth and final free leadership training sessions with Chick-Fil-a corporation! We were able to get up close and personal with literally hundred of young people and adults to share about the key points of leadership, but also the importance of your faith. During the sessions we tackled why integrity is so important for young people and why making good choices is crucial for their long-term success. We are thankful to the owner Dan Stanko for making the outreaches possible and we look forward to seeing some of the youth and parents that were in attendance as we continue to conduct outreaches in other locations!
Fundraising:
A Hearty "Thank you" to our monthly, quarterly and annual givers! We cannot carry out our missional objectives without you and your faithful support. In 2015, we have set a goal of $125,000 dollars for our capital campaign and we need your help to et there. If you would please consider becoming a monthly contributor or even making a one-time annual gift, it will help us to impact more lives and to extend our reach. Please call our office at 330-425-0962 if you would like to discuss becoming monthly partner or if you would like ot discuss alternative ways to give.
Education:
The Carthen Scholars continue to excel in their respective areas of influence on their college campuses. We are expanding the reach of the scholarships in 2015 to target schools of the recipients choice based upon feedback from student essays and application requirements. This is an exciting time as we have two more graduating seniors this summer!
Recently, we recently were asked to participate in a Philanthropy Summit with one of our community partners, The Cleveland Foundation. During the Summit we were tasked with the important role of discussing why it is important to give to organization's like The Leaders of Tomorrow Initiative and how it impacts our ability to be effective in the community. Additionally, the importance of understanding how a contribution works once it is allocated was also part of a panel discussion. The experience was great for us here at the LOT Initiative and for the session participants based upon their feedback!
Community:
Tri-C has approached us about possibility of mentoring some of their Gateway to College students! We are excited about the prospect of working with the students who have decided to go back to school as non-traditional students. The key component is that these students have experienced major obstacle sin their pursuit of their education and we are thankful to explore the possibility of helping them pursue their dream. Stay Tuned!
Outreaches:
Through a strategic partnership with Bill Glass Ministries we have gone into six prisons and spoken to over seven thousand, two hundred inmates about the saving message of faith in Jesus Christ! Whether it was a Super-Max facility or a juvenile detention facility, the inmates each have a story and by sharing a message of hope and faith, the inmates also have an opportunity to create a new chapter in that story. We have been fortunate to be in front of so many and look forward to other outreaches that are coming up in the next quarter. If you would like to volunteer to go to the prisons or if you have someone that is incarcerated and needs a message of hope, send us a note to info@theLotinitiative.org.
